Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Edgeway Software ("Chess Anatomy", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the website at chess-anatomy.com and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
You must verify your email address before accessing certain features.
Notify us promptly at support@edgewaysoft.com of any unauthorized use.

3. Subscriptions, billing & renewals

The Service offers a free tier and paid plans (currently Plus, Pro, and Unlimited) with the features and prices shown on our subscription page. Prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise and exclude any applicable taxes.
Auto-renewal: paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor (Stripe) to charge your payment method on each renewal.
Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from within the app or via the Stripe Billing Portal. Your paid benefits continue until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
One-time purchases: some features (currently the Super Clone upgrade, $9.99) are sold as a single charge rather than a subscription. A one-time purchase does not renew and grants one credit, which is applied when the feature is used. If the feature fails to complete, the credit is returned to your account.
Price changes: we may change plan prices or features. We will give reasonable advance notice, and changes apply from your next renewal. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
Plan limits: paid and free plans include usage quotas (e.g. monthly AI requests, daily puzzles). We may apply reasonable anti-abuse throttles.

4. AI features — no guarantee of accuracy

The Service uses chess engines and third-party AI models to provide analysis, coaching, reviews, and reports. These outputs are provided for training and entertainment purposes, may contain errors, and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or optimal. They are not professional advice. You are responsible for how you use them.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or attempt to circumvent usage limits, paywalls, or security of the Service;
Share, resell, or transfer your account or access without our permission;
Use the Service for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights;
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, or use automated means to access it except as expressly permitted;
Upload malicious code or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account or system.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, and branding, is owned by Edgeway Software and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. You retain ownership of the game data and content you provide; you grant us a license to process it solely to operate and provide the Service to you.

7. Third-party services

The Service integrates third-party services (including Stripe, OpenRouter, AWS, Lichess, and Chess.com). Your use of those features may be subject to the third parties' own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EDGEWAY SOFTWARE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, notified by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
